Soon to be an LLC

Herbal Intersection sets its fiscal quarters according to the seasonal round. That means this quarter is soon to close on the Equinox, so we’ve set 10 goals to be met by then.

Welcome to Herbal Intersection! Hayley here, setting up our first blog post, and it’s all about setting the tone for what we’re going to (trying to, fingers-crossed-emoji to) be in the years to come. We’ve been years in the making, and we want to ride this collaborative inertia wave with you the readers for years to come.

Clearly I love wellness, herbs, community and so on. But I’d like to share a bit about two other loves: podcasts and thrift stores. (Aww, melt your heart and hope not to cry.) I’m subscribed to a whole slew of podcasts, and one of my current favorites is called Being Boss. These two ladies lay it out for creative entrepreneurs—especially female ones—in a thorough, fun, and relatable way. In episode #79, they described “The Chalkboard Method.” My thinking was Herbal Intersection could use something like that! The very next day, I’m at the thrift picking up shot glasses for weights in my apple cider vinegar batches, and there it was. Standing up sideways, 50% off, and occupying a miscellaneous section between furniture and appliances. Yep, it was Herbal Intersection’s chalkboard. Now I had to set goals.

Here it is, from the chalkboard. 10 goals by the Equinox:

1. Create website and launch a blog. Check. They get harder.

2. Apply to become an LLC (Limited Liability Company). Told ya.

3. Apply for National Park Service special use permit for sweet fern, wintergreen, and bearberry harvests.

4. Purchase a wine press for vinfusions.

5. Establish bookkeeping system (maybe Freshbooks?).

6. Take inventory of apothecary and set monetary value.

7. Write business plan for 1 year, 5 year, and 10 year markers.

8. Apply for micro-loan from local Food Co-op (deadline Sept. 1) using information from 3 – 7.

9. Have a back-to-school / Equinox herbal give-away on Instagram and Facebook.

10. Get Herbal Intersection’s brand logo in order.

Whew. It’s going to be a really exciting five and half weeks ;) Be well.
